Willful ignorance
Apr. 20th, 2013 12:20 pmI unfriended some people on Facebook last night. We'd worked together so it wasn't like I was losing something very special. However, the reason is still rankling me. Basically he posted a diatribe against Muslims and their religion of hate, the subtext being that Christians aren't like that.
I pointed out a long LONG list of terrorist attacks in the UK through the 1970s, 80s and into the 90s which were perpetrated by good church going Christians and where old and young civilians were murdered and asked why that was different to two fucked up kids.
He couldn't believe that the IRA had any support from people in the US, even when I referred him to the collected statements of a certain representative for Boson, Peter King.
Bombing isn't friendly just because you like the cause.
Saddest for me from all this is the mother believing that they're being set up because of where they're from, when frankly, nobody in the US really knows nor cares.
