Oh you're one of THOSE libertarians...
Apr. 19th, 2013 03:16 pmThere are parallels between the arguments I was part of about the Hugo Awards and those I've often had with Libertarians. I have a philosophical position that is humans should have a right to breathable air, clean water, food, shelter, healthcare and education. Especially in a society that is rich enough to provide those things to all the people living there. I'll also be completely clear I have no idea how we get there...
Today, I came across a position which basically could be described as believing you have a right to earn money. The thing is, that's one you don't really have. The right to pay would be an interesting one indeed or even the right to a paying job would be a very interesting one indeed and I am sure you'd find a lot of socialists behind you in that. Marxists even.
So we established they were one of those libertarians who hasn't thought much about what they believe. They're in good company.
