I've been catching up with TV and some of the new stuff...
Elementary: So US TV copying the BBC without Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch. Meh. Frankly the first half of the Pilot was complete shit, it tightened up towards the end and I'll give it a second go. Still, I'm unconvinced by the character, not least of which the references to a 'father', Mycroft as the sensible one too much? Likewise, if he was brung low by a woman, is this Irene Adler?
The New Normal: Sitcom. Our gay friends suggested we watch this and if you like extremely bitchy comedy then this is just the ticket. Two high earning gay guys want to have a baby and find a surrogate in the form of a mid-western woman with a kid and her rabidly racist and homophobic grandmother played by Ellen Birkin. There's a lot of gay tropes in here, and an hysterical episode involving Grey Gardens that a few years ago, pre knowing Patrick and Ed, I'd have not had a clue about. Well worth checking out.
Go On: Sitcom - I'm still on the fence about this. Matthew Perry as a bereaved Sportscaster in San Diego. It's not great, but it has some great moments.
Revolution 102 - better than the Pilot which is sorta like saying the flu was, on the whole, better than bronchial pneumonia. Still, some interesting plot BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY BLOODY SENSE
The Mob Doctor - stinking turd. Avoid
The Neigbours - family move into a gated community where all their neighbours are aliens. One good line: "Oh we're not English we just though this accent made your gutteral horrid language sound better" - apart from that it's like watching a technicolor 1950s sitcom and not in a good way.
The Last Resort - now this is my kind of TV shite. Conspiracy, kick ass good guys, submarines, political intrigue, the works. I'm sure it'll be cancelled in short order but good fun nevertheless.
In addition we've been catching up on Community, which I ought to have been watching before. Good stuff. Although the writing team appear to be spending too much time in my head.
Right then. Back to Powerpoint.
