We'd planned a trip to a vineyard over in Eastern Washington for a much needed break. Except as Saturday dawned, with us due to leave on Sunday, we had an SMS from the friends we were going with to say that she had a chest infection and her Doctor had told her not to go. There are forest fires all over the east of the state and the air quality is, charitably speaking, pretty shit.
So, queue a Benny Hill like moment of scrambling for alternatives. Finally, we decided that we'd head North West across the Sound to the San Juans and Friday Harbor. So we had three days in a nice place literally a stone's throw from the the harbour. Seriously, I probably could throw a stone to the harbour entrance.
Anyway, very nice it was too. San Juan isn't exactly large, but it's extremely dog friendly and the 4 humans and 4 dogs had a lot of fun on the off lease beaches. We had some good food. Beer and wines were drunk and generally relaxing was undertaken.
Sadly, life goes on and we're back in the grind now.
