Tyson: Day 10
Jun. 16th, 2011 08:08 amSo we saw the specialist re-hab vet last night.
The first thing she exclaimed when entering the exam room was "but he's walking!", which I took as a reasonably good sign.
She admitted that after reading his notes from the referring neurologist she expected him to be far worse of than he is.
He also tried to hump her, chew her sleeves (another doggie, be my bitch sign) and pooped on the floor.
Anyway. We now have a bunch more physio therapy to do every day, which will help him with muscle memory and stiffness - we're also paying for 10 sessions in their underwater treadmill which helps them get used to walking again. I'd like to figure out how we can fit in some swimming and massage but at $95 a session which, unlike the vet, isn't covered by insurance, we probably can't.
Anyway, friends popped over to visit, B is going to help me replace the gate at the back of the house at the weekend and he wanted to measure up, and his partner wanted to see the patient. Naturally Tyson ran to meet them, climbing the small steps up to the back gate while we all shouted no. He managed it while wagging his tail.
Earlier he'd got by me and run down the front steps to the front lawn... FFS Tyson - you're sick boy!

Anyway, given he basically had a stroke a little over a week ago, it's pretty damn amazing.
