Well, progress continues.  He's now getting himself up without any help and moving around the house more or less effectively and like his old self.  He's now satisfied that he can get to his water bowl without falling over too.

Last night we had a small break-through playing "shake" where he managed to lift his entire front right leg and offer it to me - lots of praise and scritches for that one (we're having to watch snacks while he's doing less exercise).

Tonight we're off to the rehab Vet for the initial consult.  I will update on that later.

Generally speaking though, while he does limp and drag his front leg a little.  He's getting better and better at walking and moving around, which is great.

Following on from my heated argument this morning I think we've discovered that the culprit is Gmail.  F, like many other people, uses Gmail to read his business email for our company.

I've just realized there is a problem here.

The Google approach to email (to coin a phrase) involves giving you an awesome bucket in which to throw all your emails and the means to, generally, find them later if you need them.

There is a problem with this.

If, like me, and practically everybody I know, you don't keep your Inbox at around 20 mails, then mails will drop off the screen.  Unlike email clients, you don't have an easy option to periodically scroll down the list and deal with them later.  Worse still, if you glance at mails on your phone, so they are marked as read and you haven't Starred something for later reference - you're, not to put too fine a point on it, screwed.

So if person N has sent persons F and L an email which includes a line like: ACTIONS [F,L] DO  THIS SHIT... and F & L have glanced at it on their phones and not dealt with it, then that's it.  Gone.

Basically Gmail removes email as an actual business process tool. That's not necessarily a problem, but it then forces you to have different software systems in place to pick up the slack.  And if the person sending the email isn't part of that system, then you've a massive, enormous, hole into which your business will fall.

I need to do some thinking about how we deal with this.

More me...

Just in case the last link wasn't enough of me...

Here's an interview I gave to the Mobile Industry Review the week before last.
