After having a hissy fit a week ago, things have started moving. I'm informed that my visa application will be submitted to the INS today and the lawyers expect the visa to be approved within 10 days (the joys of inter-company transfers). The tricky bit starts then.

Once it is granted the INS have to send the physical approval to our lawyers, who then have to Fed-Ex it to the UK. I then need to present it in person at the US embassy to get it approved and stuck into my passport. Getting the appointment takes some weeks (usually) and they claim they need the passports (mine and the wife's) for a week. After that I'll have a US visa.

The next bit is also tricky. We have to apply for a work permit for M which takes up to 120 days. One option will be to fit another short trip in January for M to apply for the permit, and then move in March.

I spent a chunk of yesterday up to my arm pits in self assembly furniture.

We now have a new set of bedroom furniture which, more or less, matches the headboard of the new bed. This is actually something of a first, we've never really had matching furniture before and it does look nice, even if it's cheap Argos stuff.

We decided we ought to do this to maximise the rental prospects of the flat so we can rent it out as fully furnished.

Still, it is satisfying to have the bedroom pretty much sorted.

We still have to indulge in more decluttering but we're getting there.
