I love my garage
Dec. 9th, 2005 05:40 pmI used to have a Renault and when we moved to Bath I started using the Renault main dealers to do the work, reasoning that, like with my previous car, a Rover, they would have the best deals. They were horrific - every single job seemed to cost £400 regardless of what the original quote was. Things came to a head with a blown cylinder head gasket where they wanted £800 or probably more. A collegue at work suggested a small under the arches affair just down the road.
I tried them, and for the last 2 years have had a stunningly perfect experience with them.
Today was MOT day. Actually it's early Jan but in the move I managed to mislay or more likely mis-file the MOT certificate and I need one for the road tax which is due at the end of the month. So I thought I'd a full service and an MOT - besides, the windscreen washers had broken which was a nightmare.
I left the car with them and heard nothing. I called them at 4 to ask how things were to be told it was all done and ready for me. The mechanic/owner has this cut with a knife west country accent and always calls you sir. So if you image the accent... "All ready for you sir, no problems. The disks weren't quite right so I had them changed, but your pads were in goood condition so I didn't see anypoint in fitting new ones. Be a waste of money. Come by whenever you like."
A full service, the front disks replaced and the MOT: £268 including VAT. Now that is a bargin.
