Liars and Estate Agents...
Dec. 6th, 2005 06:46 pm*sigh* So, the mortgage broker got back to me to say that he couldn't find a lender prepared to lend to us who wouldn't charge the Higher Lending Charge, due to, he said, the missed credit card payment... He had a no problems offer from the Abbey which he said was great, however, they would charge Higher Lending...
Hmmm... I then called the broker I originally wanted to use. They listened, said this sounded weird as they had already done the checks with the lender they sourced (IF) and that there were no problems. They said they'd check and call back in 30 minutes. They did. They said they had spoken to the underwriter and we were good to get the survey sorted.
I went back to the original broker and asked him his opinion... "Oh, Intelligent Finance... well, yes, they probably would lend but I don't like using them.", "Why not?" I ask. "They were very unreliable on a mortgage I did a few YEARS ago."
Right. Might it be that the commission is perhaps lower than some of the others?
I knew from the outset I should have gone with the firm recommended in Chiswick. I knew I should have told the Estate Agents to stuff their mortgage broker. I should have taken the clue from the 2 hours we had to spend in a crappy office in Brentford a week last Saturday that this guy was a waste of our time. I should...
*sigh* Anyway, we have the offer now, the paperwork is on route to us. They are setting up the survey for sometime next week.
