Africa woes...
Jan. 13th, 2005 09:52 amI was watching a piece on Channel 4 news last night about Africa. They were talking sabout debt relief. A worthy subject. However, the man from Christian Aid then did the thing which often makes Africa look silly. He made the following statement (and yes, I am paraphrasing...)
"The problem is not corruption! Zimbabwe was completely self suffcient in food for years, but is now crippled by debt repayment to the IMF who have caused all the problems there..."
And closing the commercial farms in favour of a kind of Cultural Revolution style of small farms had *nothing* to do with it????
*sigh*
