DUFF Race?

I was out with Torontian Fen last night but missed the clues when this came up.  Having seen grumbly posts this morning could somebody give me an update of what happened?

The deadline was unusually tight for this race - the Australian natcon is next weekend I think, and the NZcon has just happened, which makes planning travel problematic. Better to vote Hold Over Funds and have a better race schedule next time?

I was told that Some DUFF folks thought it was better to run a tight race and send somebody to the Aus NatCon than miss it entirely. Hence ALL FANDOM WAS PLUNGED INTO WAR.
