Black Friday... well... not really...

Lazy start to the day. Checked in with the team around the world - weird with the UK working and the 3 of us over here taking the day extremely easily.
A lunch time excursion for coffee turned into a trip to the DIY store with my mate Bill to solve a persistent kitchen problem. We have precious little power and very few lights. this makes the main counter in the kitchen a bit of a nightmare. We have to keep swapping out plugs and taking a choice between having the one light in the corner on, or 2 appliances.
So now we have a power strip and new lighting in there.
M came back from Bill's with his better half K and their furkids, so marvel at the new lighting and to suggest we watch the Dog Show and have Irish Coffees. This seemed like a good idea to me and that was pretty much it for the rest of the day.
They stayed and I repurposed mash from Thanksgiving into Bangers and Mash with Creamed Peas - with Trifle to follow. That and a few bottles of wine we watched Hot Fuzz - really good fun (again) and new to B&K, then A Knight's Tale which is... well... just insane frankly. But I'd watch the opening sequence over and over again.
I must admit having the Comcast internet is really making me think about the Direct TV package. We get pretty much everything I want on streaming internet - so do I need to keep it. We need to think about that. My concern is Comcast suddenly making life difficult.
Finally, my lovely wife, while looking at the American Express rewards magazine for potential "free" Christmas presents for her, she noticed that we could get an X-Box 360 Kinect for a ridiculously low number of them. So, we're getting one. This isn't an entirely altruistic decision on her part. She loves Dance Dance Revolution but the mat which comes with the Wii version is really a royal pain in the arse. The Kinect version is a lot easier to play.
It also handles Netflix and Media Center too, which is going to be interesting.
I've realised that I will be needing 8 way switch next to the TV to deal with all the Ethernet cables but I can do that.
In other news, I've found that the wireless bridge in the house, between the internets and the TV, which I thought was the weak spot, actually makes no difference to the speed nor latency of the interwebs... which saves me from running a Cat-5 cable through the crawl space which I didn't want to do.
