While I hated Wesley Crusher as much as they next man, I have to admit that I've grown to admire and quite like Wil Wheaton the writer/actor behind the kid.  Not least because he does appear to be a genuinely interesting person and his blog covers a lot of pretty interesting ground - writing, TV shows he's worked on/working on, comics, role playing games etc...

It seems to have vanished from this version of the blog, but on the old one was an explanation about why he started keeping the blog.  Apparently around the time he hit 30, he was in a Hooters with a friend in their old home town having a drink.  The waitress looked at him, frowned and said the imortal lines, "hey didn't you used to be an actor?"  He realised he needed something else to do at that point.

Still, lots of good stuff there.

he turned it into quite a good book; hopefully he's past all the venting about the upper echelons at Paramount - which I can completely understand, but which can end up like a drunk friend who can't stop talking about their ex...
