I am in a pissy mood today....
Just warning people.
There's a discussion going on in _another_ place that is related to discussions going on, on the _list that will not be named_.
It's a rehash of many fanish discussions on such things and this time I tend to come down on the opposite side of the discussion to the one I usually do. To whit: I think Jim Hines has a point and I'm sorry if that offends people but I think he does.
And I don't think some of the things that have been reported that have been said on *that* list(*) do anything other than reinforce a bunch of stereotypes. And, I am honestly sorry if that upsets people on the list who are trying to do good things and all. But it is a problem.
(*) - yes I know it's not a secret list and yes I know anybody can join and yes I know there is a very small set of people who are actually regularly wrong on it. But still, that's not the point here.
