Deep Thoughts? Sorry, got nothing today

We're coming up to a lull in our recent run of being super busy.  Partly this is an illusion caused by a break in customer projects - where work for people who pay us is replaced with work on the product that we need to do.

I'm also taking this moment to do some wrangling on our product messaging.  We've been struggling to sell some of our stuff as it's a little more complex than a shrink wrapped product.

Anyway - general stuff:

Tonight: Iron Sunrise
Wednesday: Meetings and delivering a project
Friday: More meetings
Saturday-Monday: Friends wedding in darkest Oregon

Thursday: Chicago

The Irish Problem

The core of the thesis is that the stupid stuff that made the disaster of the famine worse, was, in a large part, the daft Victorian anti-poor moral nonsense that Ryan, Romney and the GOP are peddling as their core beliefs around Social Security and taxation.

You know, for a press that's in the pocket of the 'left' they really aren't showing it.

Note to the US Press: being even handed doesn't mean being the center of two right wing parties.

More thoughts: Romney can't shift the dialogue.  It's 80ish days out and he still can't shift the dial from Women, his Tax and Social spending.  At this stage, I'm not sure he can.

On Getting By...

There's an interesting piece by author Nick Mamantas where he talks about what he's had to do to make ends meet in current times.

I've been through those times and put a lot of hard work into making sure that I wouldn't have to live like that again.  Of course, then I started the business and times have indeed been hard.  Although not that hard.  We've had a few months where I've had to juggle payments and where I've got it wrong I've had to take the hit on my credit score.  

So, this kinda comes back to my problems with treating the well off as special flowers.  For the most part, it's a combination of luck and hard work - but hard work doesn't give you carte blanche to be a dick.

By all means people need to work hard... but a lot of people are working VERY hard and they're not making it.  That alone tells you all you need to know.
