So Comcast came over this morning to give us proper interwebs... and from the perspective of the direct tap all is good.  The 12MB connection is actually 20MB which is nice.

However, after that everything has gone a bit pear shaped.  First of, my cunning plan of disabling the DSL modem parts of the modem and using it as a DHCP Server and Wireless networking router turned out to be impossible.  so then I had the cunning plan of installing DHCP on my Home Server...  naturally this completely fragged my network and I then couldn't see the Server and apparently now thought I was running IPv6 at home...

So, I trundled off to Best Buy for a new router.  On the way back we picked a nice new pattern on the windscreen thanks to a fairly massive rock that bounced of the 5...

Finally home, I got the router and DHCP installed, and could start using parts of the network.  Then I couldn't get the Wireless Bridge up and running - which took about an hour.  Then I had to deal with the Home Server config issue, which took about 20 minutes of Googling which resolved to the naturally - the software is HERE, reinstall it.

Start to finish, about 6 hours.  Why does this not surprise me.
