Terra Nova....
Sep. 28th, 2011 02:33 pmI'll chose to ignore the environmental nightmare world of 2149 and look at the general stuff. This is pretty non-spoilery...
- population enforcement? In 2149... Hmmm... seems unlikely to me, but it's a plot thing
- Tech level looks the same as 2011 to me, except for the USB stick sized super laser cutters...
- Don't understand the time-rift bit... not clear if it's 1-way or if they can send signals back but not people... either way, doesn't make sense
- Characters are a tad wooden... in so far as you could make an entire bookcase out of the kids alone
- a LOT of Brit/Irish cast members is distracting, especially the ones who've been in Doctor Who and are sporting dodgy American accents
- Apparently they don't have very many black people in 2149
There is some potential in the questions they actually opened but didn't answer...
- how does having a human civilisation 85m years in the past interact with the future timeline?
- who are the "sixes"?
- are the Terra Nova management all they seem?
It's pretty, glossy, schlock... not sure if it's worth sticking with though.
