Depressing Day Really...
Aug. 4th, 2011 11:34 amHardly surprising that the stock market is having a bad turn, they've just worked out that the Tea Party have effectively destroyed the US economy and while the GOP are in their thrall there is basically sod all anybody can do about it.
There's no stimulus left, such that it was was actually mostly tax cuts which we know doesn't work - and without stimulus there isn't any way to get things moving.
It's all too depressing for words.

We've now finished a secondary round of testing and the long and short of it is this.
If you've a newer iPhone 3G, it'll be slow but run - in fact, some people have downloaded the 4.3 version and it's working on their phones.
Older devices just can't handle the size of the event database in memory.
We did the development testing on a 2 year old 3GS and it ran fine. We're going to have to have the iPhone 3GS as the line in the sand because short of making the app completely web based, it's not going to be practical with a convention this bit.
Sorry about that.
If you've a Verizon iPhone 4, the open version of the app will be available as soon as Apple approve the build.
The Android version which will go up at the weekend, with more of the known bugs fixed, will only work on Android 2.2 and higher - earlier Android versions don't have enough webkit browser support to run the app.
Anybody can access the web app version at http://mobile.renovationsf.org and that will give you an idea if your phone can handle the actual app. If it runs, you'll be good. If it's too slow after it's downloaded the database, you won't.
It's a HUGE database to handle.
