So much that I've found myself reading Rand Simberg's blog after a gap of months.

I'm trying to work out what pisses me off more.  The rank hypocricy of the people posting there.  The appalling lack of understanding of basic economics.  Or the dick thumping testosterone fueled rants about how they're not going to get insurance and then buy something when they get sick.

Of course, the reality is they will buy something, because for those that aren't single, or have kids will need to have medical treatment of some kind every year and at some point it's going to get too expensive to keep paying out of pocket.

But this is EXACTLY why there should a single payer option and it should be through general taxation.

What shocks me is that the US government already spend basically as much as the British government does on healthcare but with worse results and coverage - that's not including that the same amount again is spent on private insurance!

For profit healthcare insurance should be a moral anathema.  As should uncapped non-performance related pay for CEOs and letting deposit holding banks use that money for anything other than increasing the value of their deposits.

I am seriously thinking of pulling my banking out of a conventional bank and doing everything via a Credit Union at the moment for that very reason.  That and my bank was sold to Chase who appear to be moderately awful.
