Movies 2010
Feb. 27th, 2010 08:43 amBeen a while and I've probably forgotten some.
#9 The Hurt Locker - gosh wow. The Bafta's were right and I hope the Oscars get it right too. This is an amazing film. Probably one of the best "war" movies I've ever seen. Just astonishing.
#10 Inglorious Basterds - Not the movie I thought I was going to watch but amazing never-the-less, another worthy Oscar nomination and Christopher Waltz's jew hunting Nazi is pretty much a lock on the statuette. Fantastic
#11 Whip it - I'm becoming something of a Roller Derby fan. I mean, women in fishnets hitting each other? What's not to like? However, while the movie is fun, Drew Barrymore's directorial debut is a little ham fisted.
#12 Zombieland - Er.... brilliant and fun, but perhaps not for all tastes. I was turning heads on the plane I watched it on because I kept laughing.
#13 Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen - I was on a plane and a line from Greek the other day resonated. "It's like for straight guys when Megan Fox talks." - I was on a plane for 10 hours, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
#14 The Vampires Assistant - Meh. It was ok fun. John C Reilly was, in my opinion, badly miscast. There was a huge cast but it felt like they'd signed up on the strength of the role they'd have in Film 4 of the series, or whatever... I'm not familiar with the source material so it felt like a long set up.
#15 The Informant - fun movie, based on a true story but I'm not sure it was served by being made in exactly the same style as Oceans 11. I got the feeling that the Scott Bakula role was written for George Clooney but I don't think that would have made much difference.
