A Decent Quiz

Tried out the quiz at the faux Englishe Pube The Elephant and Castle last night.  Due to poor planning on my part there were only 2 of us, but we snatched a credible 2nd place having been holding solid in 3rd since the first round.

This was helped, in most by the 2 points per answer in the last round and the two token Brit questions. 

1. Baseball Bats are traditionally made of Ash.  What are cricket bats made of...
2. In the 1986 a foul by which Argentinan player put England out of the Soccer World Cup...

A good quiz though and reasonably fun.  We will probably start going more regularly.  The tricky round, at least for me, was matching US political campaign slogans to their politician.  Apparently Polk for was the re-annexation of Oregon or somesuch.

AKICINLJ - Car Navigation Systems

Having got used to the inbuilt Sat-Nav in the Honda, I'm considering getting a portable unit for the second car.  There are 2 reasons for this:

1. I think I've forgotten how to drive to new places without Sat-Nav...
2. We are seriously considering starting some hiking with the new car and Sat Nav can be handy for finding some of the trail areas and generally knowing where you aren't

Any recommendations on dash board units.  Garmin and Tom-Tom seem to be the top brands but do I actually get anything special through them or can I get something else?

A Day Trip to Russia

Insane...  insane I tell you.

All to avoid flying Siberia Airlines I am visiting Nihzny Novogorod for a day.  Literally.

I will arrived Sunday May 18 and depart at 4am on Tuesday May 20, flying back via Frankfurt, London and then changing for Seattle.  Ugh.

Upcoming travel though:

Next week: San Diego and San Francisco (probably)

May 10-17: UK - mostly in and around London/Winchester
May 18-20: Russia and then, probably flying straight home

June 9-12: Palma de Mallorca for an internal Sales Conference and then home maybe with a day in London

I will probably have to fit in a trip to Boston at some point and I'll have another to Dallas.
