Had the first stage of our medical done yesterday.  Lots of bloods taken, being tested for HIV and other STDs, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, TB and Chicken Pox anti-bodies.

Apparently we'll get the results back tomorrow morning which seems awfully quick to me.

Anyway, he also did Blood Pressure as I'd noted previously high BP on the history form.  Even after the bloods and various other needles the BP was sitting quite nicely at 122/86 which is pretty good without medication.

So assuming there's nothing in the medical that causes a problem tomorrow, we'll be getting our photo's and filing the application during the first week of January.

In other news, we're seriously looking at a remortgage at home.  We always said we'd move onto a straight repayment at the end of the low start and while it'll hurt a bit, I think we'll be able to.

Low Signal

Working from home waiting for the phone/DSL guy to come.  We've gone from a good 5MBS interweb down to barely 500KBS.  Apparently the signal to our model is "just awful" - so I'm curious to see what they can do.  It would be good to get a decent connection back.

I've been listening to The Week in Tech (TWIT) Podcast and while it can be interesting, it astounds me when clever tech related people say stoooopid things.

Jason Calacanis was talking about Global Warming, apparently he thinks all the problems will go away because people will start to use electric cars...  so Jason, mate, where's the electricity coming from then?  Hopefully not coal or oil.

Leo LaPorte, the host, and the others were complaining about operators and saying that Verizon were exciting him because they were "opening their network" - they're a fecking CDMA operator.  The degree to which they can open their network is severely limited by their chosen bearer technology.  You want open?  Buy a GSM phone.
