The credit card I use to pay for my web hosting expired at the end of last month and I didn't notice.  When I did notice I changed the details, but it appears that the hosting company have removed everything anyway.

Quite annoying, especially as they won't answer my calls or respond to emails.

It's probably time for a change, so I've changed the web hosting provider and applied for a change of DNS for the domain.  Fingers crossed this will get sorted in a few days and everything will be back up and running (I hope - I am no expert on this stuff.)

On the plus side they're about 25% the price I was paying and offer a better service.  If it works, I'll shift the www.atomicrazor.com stuff over as well and Paul and I will combine the blog with the domain.  It would be nice to get the site working properly again.

Tonight we will most be watching the new stage show of Young Frankenstein.

I was having the third of three highly repetative conversations with a co-worker today, only my mother, lounging before her flight, heard this one and remarked after that the other party didn't seem to be listening to what I was saying.  He wasn't, I understand why he wasn't, but repeating stuff to me doesn't help me solve it.   She mentioned a scenario which had recently cropped up in her local area and asked my thoughts.  I'm interested in people's thoughts too.  I'd do a survey.

In my home town, the local Conservative Club, Post Office Dispatch office and a couple of other places share a small access road.  The road is private, owned by a local businessman who's had it for years.  Every year, usually on Boxing Day when the Conservative Club closes, he closes the road - an action he must to prevent the road becoming public.  His view is this is his property, he paid for it, he maintains it and pays for lighting and so forth.

He used to grant free access to people under an agreement he had with the manager of the Royal Mail depot.  The management changed and they refused to honour the agreement.  He responded by pointing out that he didn't have to grant access rights, and effectively turned the parking areas into a non-waiting zone and hired a company to patrol it.  Customers now need to stop.  He has also pointed out to the Con Club that he grants them access for people using the club, under those terms people using the carpark for shopping etc... are breaking his terms of access and he's started fining people who park.

One of the other local councillors (who got a ticket) has taken this on as an issue.

So what do you think his position is:

a) the man owns the road legally, he is within his rights - negotiate with him or follow his rules
b) get the council to slap a compulsory purchase order on him?
