I should have said no to the Cheesy Fries
Aug. 21st, 2007 01:11 pmWe had a Health Screening today, a freebie from the Beast. BP, Glucose and Cholesterol tests. I was thinking about the Cholesterol as I ate a portion of Cheese and Garlic fries that somebody dumped in front of me last night.
Couple of weird things. My BP was really high when they took it 153/96 - which is weird because it's been rock solid around 125/80 for 2 months now with only a couple of blips. Either I didn't like the test, getting to the test and having the blood taken for the tests, or there's something else at work. The nurse suggested that it was probably them - if I check it regularly and it's not that high then it's usually a test problem. (At the Osteo last week it was 120/80.)
Glucose is slap in the middle of normal, so no Diabetes, good.
Cholesterol. Hmmm... well, surprise, surprise, living in the US for 6 months has not improved the numbers. On the other hand I've not taken any active measures to reduce the numbers, but as its stuck at just over the line into "High" for the last 2 tests, I suppose I'd better get working. Good news my HDLs are good, it's the LDLs that are the problem.
Annoyingly, M, who eats pretty much the same diet has really really really low numbers. Boo!!!!
Oh, and I need to lose weight. Well, that came as a shock. Apparently, if I eat less and exercise more I should be able to.
Really? Gosh! Well I never. Is that what I've been doing wrong.
Geesh, these nurses sometimes really piss me off.
