Settling Down...
Jan. 29th, 2007 08:58 amToday will be the first day in the office... that is when I finally get out of the house. I've been on the phone since 5ish and am only just having a breather. Then its time to shower and head over the bridge.
Busy weekend and I can safely say I never want to shop again. We spent 7 hours at it on Saturday, visiting Ikea, Target and Best Buy. Then on Sunday we had to go to Bed Bath and Beyond again to get some lamps and some glasses that don't shatter when you touch them. At some stage we're also going to have to deal with the returns for the stuff we bought that is just plain crap. That said, things are starting to come together.
I assembled a bunch of the flat packs. I've one left to go, but I wasn't in the mood last night to assemble a large chest of drawers, not when it comes in two packets.
We've also got to order the Sofa bed, desk and chair from Ikea.
Once that's done we're pretty much set up. We'll need to go over the expenses side, but I think we're pretty much on budget.
I did manage to get a couple of good deals. We managed to get a Ninja dual core laptop for Maryse for well under $1000 because it was running XP and they'd sell me the display unit. And I've been allowed to buy a Home Theatre amp for the new TV. We watched DVDs last night and it really really rocks. YAY!
Oh, and we tested the bread maker and it was excellent. So we can have real bread at home without too much effort.
Now I can start focusing on the mundane chores of doing business and organising the nightmare of logistics that is 3GSM.
I've only got 5 meetings in my diary at the moment, which is a laugh, because actually there's 25 in planning - it will probably work out at 6-7 1 hour meetings a day for 4 days, plus parties in the evening.
Yuck.
At least BA have called off the strike and I can get there.
