We've rented out the flat... gosh... to the first people who saw it. They offered the asking price too, which makes things easier.

Things left to do...
1. Move the mortgage over to a Landlord's mortgage.
2. Pack up our stuff
3. Move the stuff in Access around to cheaper lockers (give stuff away if there are any takers) - NB: This needs to probably happen next weekend... Pat?
4. Ship stuff. We're limiting ourselves to 3 cubic metres.
5. Transfer some money into the US bank account
6. Get our visas (appointment set for Jan 9)
7. Get round to Manchester, Preston and Bath for good byes and other stuff
8. Cancel and otherwise close down Direct Debits (gym, broadband, phone etc...)

There's an even bigger list than that too :(

Still, the last item remains the same... fly to Seattle Jan 22, 17:05...

Oh, then there's a really massive list for Jan 23!

I read Polity Agent by Neil Asher. Not bad, not one of his best, but it filled in some important blanks in his growing continuity.

However, WTF is it with Imperial units??? I spent a long time training myself to stop thinking in Imperial and I expect that authors writing SF probably ought to do the same or have editors who can do it for them.

A Yard is a pretty meaningless measure for most people these days, as is a fluid ounce. Having the dimensions of an AI braincase given in yards and fluid ounces is just wrong.
