Should Have Stayed at Home...
Dec. 17th, 2006 05:05 pmGeneral round up of the misadventures of the O'Neills abroad.
Saturday: We got up early and moved stuff from the back of the car and into the store at the appartment building.
In the afternoon we decided that we'd kill time at Tukwilla shopping mall. Unfortunately, so, it would seem did pretty much everybody else in the area.
M: Why don't you park there...
Me: I HAVEN'T EATEN YET TODAY, THE PEOPLE AROUND US ARE DRIVING LIKE WANKERS AND I HAVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND I'M GOING TO BLOODY WELL PARK SOMEWHERE QUIET!!!!
We found somewhere, Oregan in Ms opinion, and walked back to the Mall. Honestly, I only went to look at TVs, but somehow ended up buying a TV and Home Theatre system. Well, it was in my relocation budget...
The guy selling it to us needed prompting, he kept trying to let me not bother. But I did want him to get the sale. He kept asking us about travelling in Europe and if it was possible to turn up and travel for a year or so and get casual labour and see something of the world... he said his friend's had told him that this couldn't be done and nobody does it.
M was able to put him right and suggest some options. Good on him if he does it, and hopefully the commission from the TV and stuff would be a help. Its a nice TV.
Then onto SeaTac and a long wait for delayed flights. We had a painless flight home, sleeping in Business Class (not hard in a bed) and then had the journey unravel in Heathrow.
The pilot made up the delay in the air, landing pretty much bang on time. Naturally this meant that there was no gate. There was no gate for an hour. This probably had more to do with the fact that along with the absence of gates, there was an absence of baggage handling. Apparently there had been a "system failure" earlier in the day. I suspect that the system failure in question was probably brought on by a Christmas Party because there seemed to be a serious lack of human beings working anywhere in T4.
Anyway, 2.5 hours after landing, and we finally got out of Heathrow.
Home now. Phew.
