Personality Tests
Aug. 31st, 2006 01:34 pmIn preparation for the meeting with the head hunter tomorrow I did the online personality test today. Interesting, not unlike a standard LJ type thing. I was raterh disturbed by the shape some of my answers were taking, and also quite frustrated that some of my positions, because of the nature of the test structure were effectively contradictory.
The test used blocks of 4 statements and you had to pick 1 of the 4 you agreed with and 1 you disagreed with. Of course, the problem would be picking one when you agreed or disagreed with all of them.
I'm going to be interested in the results as I certainly found myself agreeing with a lot of the "strong" statements about being goal orientated and outgoing, and identifying that I'm not really a detail person. I like other people to do the details and I'll pull all the other stuff together. This isn't necessarily unusually in sales people.
OTOH - the huge contradictions come where I am, at the same time, happy to work with good clear organisation but yet also feel that strong process and procedure is an anathama to creativity.
I am going to be rather interested in what they make of me.
In prep for the interview, one of my standard "weaknesses" that they ask about is my attention to detail, and I suspect that came out of the test.
I did, however, manage not to be over analytical and rattled through anwering questions as I saw fit, even if some of them were written in a most bizzare Swenglish.
