Oh Hell...

On my first trip to Seattle I had to have a root canal. It was the most pain I had been in in my life.

On Saturday night I started to get a little discomfort in my jaw. On Sunday, there was pain. By Sunday night it was 9+ on a scale of 1-10 and climbing. I eventually fell asleep for a few hours around 4 before the pain woke me again. I have had some periodic pain in this area since the original root canal and the problems stem to damage caused by an impacted wisdom tooth. But my Dentist assured me there were no problems... Hmmmm...

I found a dentist close to the hotel and they gave me an emergency appointment. You know things are bad when the Dentist looks at the X-Ray and says, "I can't do this, you need somebody better equipped than we are. I'll see if I can pull some strings..."

_gulp_

I've an abcess under the original root canal (the new Dentist was scornful of that work) and suggested I sue my own dentist for the crown. I've also got another abcess under the tooth next to it. Both of which he said were "god awful pieces of dentistry".

So, he has pulled some strings and I have a session booked with an specialist in downtown Seattle tonight. He wasn't sure what they could do but they have agreed to get me ready to come home. He felt they ought to be able to do the bulk of the work tonight... He also suggested if I'm coming back that I get them to finish the work. "British Dentistry might have improved but in my opinion it's still marginal..."

Fortunately the company insurance is picking up the tab. Plus the Dentist insisted I had to have Vicodin - so currently I'm not that fussed about what's going to be done later.

I suspect that will change.
