Well, I've got my new laptop and I did want light and small. I just wasn't prepared for quite this light and small. It's a Sony Vaio TX2 - very very very cool it is too. I'm just trying to make sure everything I need from the old one is now on the new one.

In house news: I have one email to send and according to the solicitor, everything on our end is done. They are waiting for a couple of questions to be answered by the sellers solicitors and we can exchange contracts.

WOO!!!! Another couple of weeks and we'll have our own place! Eeek!

I've also found a self-store place near to the new flat, so I can put the books somewhere while we get ready to do the loft conversion.

Feeling particularly geeky at the moment having been able to debug and resolve the ActiveSync issue which has been preventing me from syncing my shiny new SP5m with my work laptop.

Of course, the very fact that I had to trawl through obscure parts of the MS knowledge base and knew roughly why there was a problem is not a good sign. The problem appears to be with trying to turn the phone into a Network Device (the NDIS model) - it's a cool idea, it's a really really cool idea and a step towards the "ubiqutous device" - however, it's also, at the same time, a really bad idea.

The problem is that phones need to do one main thing and a bunch of minor things. Acting as a network interface is going to come, but first of all you really really want them to make phone calls and by extension, run a phone book. The average or even non-average user doesn't want to have to go into Network Settings and redefine the TCP/IP settings to ensure that the PC notices that you have a phone there.

*sigh*

Anyway, syncing up nicely now.

Almost got the Shiny New Toy configured and usable. It's a Sony Vaio TX2, it's very small and very cute. Although the screen is possibly too small.
