High Flying...

Looks like my trip is _go_ for the end of the month.

I'll be in Seattle most of the week of Jan 16, Monday through Saturday. Sunday I'll be "popping" over the Chicago, (hate hate hate that change) to catch a flight to Tokyo - arriving Monday afternoon. Thursday I'll be flying down to Seoul. Friday meetings in Seoul and then home Saturday night.

Long trip but it will be good to get it out of the way.

Fortunately I'll be spending much of next week with M in London.

Flat Update

Got the survey and initial conveyance report back over Christmas. Hmmm...

The survey has picked up pentrating damp in the front and back rooms - probably caused by damaged guttering and cracked mortar. They've recommended getting a quote and getting the work done asap. So now I have to try and get quotes for work. This is not as easy as I hoped it would be because we don't yet own the place and we might not buy... I've a couple of builders prepared to quote, but they'll not do it for free. They've proposed £100 which can come off the cost of any work done at a later date. I'm not sure there's much I can do about that.

I'm also annoyed with the solicitor. The initial conveyancing report mentioned some items I should consider but without actually providing me with additional information. Their fee was fixed so I can image they try to do the minimum of work, but the ownership of the loft space is a pretty important issue and I'd like them to confirm it.

I was hoping to exchange contracts in the last week of Jan/1st Feb - that may be optimistic at the moment.

Getting There...

The Estate Agent are going to get formal quotes for the work and have suggested a discount based on the higher of their quotes. I think I can live with that. It's a max of £5K, so we'll see.

Monday I need to chase the solicitor for answers to my questions but we're getting there.

Trip booked for the week after next. Scary thing it is to behold to.
Monday 16 - Saturday 22: I'll be in Seattle. Seattle fandom? Any ideas?

I'll be taking the red eye to Chicago at 23:59 from Seattle to O'Hare - then catching a flight to Tokyo - arriving Monday late afternoon.

Tuesday - Meetings in Tokyo
Wednesday - Meetings in Nara
Thursday - Flight to Hong Kong, change for Seoul - bloody awful way to do it but it's the way the flight package came out.
Friday - meetings in Seoul
Saturday - fly back to Hong Kong then onwards to the UK, arriving back in the evening.

I am curious about Japan - never been there before (an hour in Narita airport changing planes doesn't really count) and I'll get to go on a few fast train rides to Nara for meetings.

Home Soon...

Very tired today - spending the evening drinking with a friend didn't help I expect.

Going to have a relaxed weekend. Curry tonight, followed by lashings of TV to catch up on. 5 episodes from Series 2 of Lost to watch. A couple of Boston Legal episodes and also I've now got practically all of Season 2 of the much underated Carnivale to watch.

I'll also have to fit in a trip to the gym I suppose :(
