Warm and Sunny in Seattle
Feb. 25th, 2005 03:06 pmAgainst all probability Seattle is enjoying an extraordinary run of nice weather. Clear blue skies, great views of the mountains and a high yesterday of 20C. This is not good news for snow boarders or skiers, but for sedentary individuals with a cold, it's great news.
Busy day today, culminating in a trip down to San Francisco to Corflu - which will be my first US con - which will be nice.
I'll also be catching up with friends while in the Bay Area, which will also be nice.
It's been both fun, and a little weird, to have a large team out here. There's the "finally I've cracked the account" feeling, but also quite good fun to go out with a group. We already have a "tour" drink - The Holy Handgrenade of Antioch (no, I don't know what it is either, but that's what the bottle looks like) - and a couple of funny stories, best being; "so, this guy was holding a card saying, 'homeless Vet' - how the hell can a vet be homeless?", "Umm... Mark, not that kind of Vet..."
Only down point was having to run back to the hotel to get my fecking passport so they'd serve me in a bar near the hotel. I've drunk in the place probably 20 times and never needed any ID - this time they refused my Driving License. Damn it, this country can suck!
