Oh For Heaven's Sake...
Jan. 7th, 2005 01:33 pmSo, in March M and I are going to RSA to see her family. At Christmas I received an email, well we all did at work, from our Chairman saying that he'd bought a game farm in RSA and wdas offering a 35% discount to staff. Cool I thought, let's look it up. It does look nice. We'll need something to get away from her family to for a couple of nights and the game reserves are pretty frightening price wise anyway.
Given our flights were airmiles and we're staying at her brother's place free of charge, I thought we could blow a bit on a luxary 2 or 3 nights and still be cheaper than paying for a holiday. So I do some maths and reckon we can afford 3 nights all inclusive. I contact the resort, they confirm the booking but say to qualify for the discount we have to book through the Swedish travel firm.
Ok, no problem, I call Sweden. The price Sweden has just quoted me, including the staff discount is... £400 more than booking direct with the resort via their website. They're double checking their sums.
WTF?????
EDIT: Firstly the quote was wrong, it is lower, and secondly, they had quoted not including the discount. Why would they do that??? I said who I worked for, I discussed the discount, they were aware of the discount, but they quoted without it? Is this a Swedish law thing or just to wind me up?
