House things...
Nov. 19th, 2004 02:00 pmWe've been very house orientated this lunch time. The back corner of the lounge/dining room has always been a little dark. There's no lights over there, there is power - but somebody put some bloody great bookcases across the sockets about 35 seconds after moving in.
I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner, but the back of a billy bookcase is a pretty lightweight piece of hardboard. There is now a handy socket sized hole hidden behind the books and a shiny new uplighter in the corner (a bargin at £7.99 from Homebase). More worrying is M decided the bookcases were looking untidy and has tidied them. It might take me ages to sort that out.
Alternatively, should I store some of my old paperbacks? Questions, questions.
Harder to deal with is whether or not we are going to have to move. We've lived in this place almost 3 years now, longer than anywhere since I left Preston in 1997. At one point I moved house 5 times in 2 years which was getting not only boring but hard to keep track of previous addresses. I really like the place we're in now. It's a great location, has a manageable court yard garden which is great for moderately sized BBQs in the summer, 2 reasonable bedrooms and a massive lounge with a pretty good kitchen.
It will be hard to move, even if we didn't have to move a couple of thousand books.
