Ow! Ow! Bad Liver... Shushh!!!
Dec. 10th, 2003 11:27 amThis is week is a little mad. I have an attack of the in-laws because yesterday was M's graduation (Go M Go!) - but with work and other things this is turning into a mad week which looks and looked something like this:
Thursday: Drive to London - went to the Ton, saw lots of people. Got to bed late, up at 5 to meet the folks at Heathrow.
Friday: Drinks. Bed. Early... then... phone call from USian client which saw me in the office at 9.30pm emailing files to them. Bum.
Sunday:
M went to the Bath Christmas market with her family while I cooked and had a chance to finish the next buggeringly hard mission on Freelancer. My client took longer to get from London to Bath than he had from Seattle to London because some contractor mistook the core signalling cable for Western Trains for something he should hack through. M pitches home about 5pm and says: "Ah, how many are you cooking for?"
"7, at least that's what you told me."
"Umm... well its 14 now. Here's a bunch of people I've invited - say hi to David people..."
We managed with an emergency take out roast chicken from Safeway - but it was tight. Much wine was drunk.
Monday: 7 hour meeting from hell with client. Meal out in the evening. Beer in the Salamander (great pub), meal in The Moon and Sixpence (in my mind an over priced over-hyped eatery.)
Tuesday: 4 hours of meeting from hell which I am told went on until 7pm. I went to M's graduation (details later) - then a meal. Sadly we had a bad experience at Le Beaujolais - which is about my favourite resturant in Bath. Certainly the first time I've had poor service there. We'll go back later and complain to the owner. Then we crashed the MBA Ball by dint of going up with another MBAers wife who is a member of the senior common room which is adjacent to the room where the party was. Much beer, more VAT's, home at 3 in a taxi driven by YABSA (Yet Another Bloody South African).
Wednesday: Out at friend's tonight but I am driving - I cannot drink.
Thursday: Pub Quiz at Bath Rugby ground. Several of the team will be there.
Friday: Company Christmas Do. Not a high spot of last year, if they run true to form they have already started cooking the Turkey.
Saturday: Up for a 10:20 train to London. Lunch with my family and M's - my Brother in Law is coming, so there'll be some booze consumed there. Evening with
