There comes a point at most Eastercons, usually on Monday when I don't feel as horrible as I did on the Sunday, thanks usually to the Saturday Night Sunday Morning drinking, that I feel I ought to stay Monday night. I didn't, I'm glad.

Reasonable Con. The Hotel has nothing that being co-located with a city centre wouldn't improve but generally pleasant enough. The programme could have been a bit beefier, but as I generally spent my time in the bar and only properly attended items I was on or running.

The Technobabble Quiz went better than expected too.

Anyway, back in the real world now...

Conversation:
"So, how many books did you buy?"
"Books? Books? Sorry dear?"
"The books, how many did you buy?"
"Not many, really, honest..."
"HOW MANY?"
"*mummble*"
"David..."
"No more than 20..."
"20!!!"
"Perhaps less" (perhaps more...) "But, you bought some clothes on Thursday and you've lots! I didn't ask about them!"
"CONCORDE!" (end game and check mate)

Some arguements you just know you aren't going to win...

The books are good - perhaps "Bikini Planet" by David Garnett described by one reviewer thus: "A billion monkeys and a billion years and you couldn't come up with this one..." I've read it. It's going on the bit of my shelves near Star Smashers of the Galaxy Rangers.

Roj Peyton persuaded me to pay him £10 or so for "The Insider" by Chris Evans (terribly good, I read it on the train) - the rest I will read at my leisure.
