People can get better. Most writers get better as they get on. Of course most don't get published during their "million words of crap". Of course this withdrawal after the ballot has been published is another problem for the ballot and the administrators caused by a bunch of spoilers (people who wish to spoil something). Not his fault - he clearly only found out about the SP/RP issue after the ballot was published. Very sad in fact to find the pleasure at being a finalist undermined by finding out it was part of a crap spoiler campaign and not legitimat praise
