that's Wamu/Chase, right? They hit me with $120 of charges when a transfer went wrong; State Farm refunded them for me! I haven't tested their overdraft though.
the banks here can be just as gittish; A&L just refunded £40 of charges for providing statements that the man trying to stop me closing my account said should never have been applied, but they couldn't do anything about overdraft fees that are the same however much overdrawn you are and monthly fees if your money doesn't go in within the correct 28 days of the month. The tax audit has given me a new respect for First Direct who have been friendly, helpful, downright sympathetic, have looked things up on multiple systems at once in case on took a few seconds less and have sent every statement without charging me a penny. Their interest rates are paltry but it's worth it to be able to pick up a phone, dial the number and speak to someone without typing in the Fibonacci sequence (at least in the US you can keep shouting 'agent'!)
