Health kick...
Jan. 25th, 2014 01:29 pmSo, with the exception of the 2 days in Vegas I've been dry this month. Seriously, you can't be dry in Vegas, or rather I wouldn't want to be, it would be too depressing frankly.
I've also been swimming. I'm working back up to a mile a swim, and I've been going 3-4 times a week. I'm now up to 500 yards (US pool grrrrr.....) front crawl with the balance in breaststroke, with the goal of doing a 50/50 mile in about 30 minutes, up from a 50 minute breaststroke based one. OTOH - doing half a mile with front crawl is quite a calorie burner.
I'm down abut 3kgs so far this year from my Christmas high, which is a good start and I've a goal for Loncon to be under 110kgs, which sounds high, it's 17 stone but with the swimming it should actually work... my all post 30s low was 106 and I looked pretty skinny. The weight loss is slow, and I've been keeping a food diary too, which is the only way I actually think about food, and, generally speaking I've been eating about 2000 calories a day, give or take, which with 5 miles of walking plus the swimming is netting out at about 1700 a day.
Key to this is keeping the booze intake low. I've been a little surprised at how little I've missed it to be honest. Apart from a couple of things coming up, the Super Bowl (GO HAWKS!) and a British Ex-Pat Friday in the pub with a curry, I'l see if I can stick to it until I go to London at the end of Feb.
