Revolution....

Another comment on another blog and I'm left wondering, not the first time in the last week, how in the hell people THINK stuff happens and, for that matter, how it happens in their lives.
You don't need stuff organised to be a Science Fiction fan, you can be one without doing anything or even interacting with other people. But if you want to meet other people, say, in the pub on the second Sunday of the month, or the first Thursday, then somebody has to arrange that, speak to the pub owner, find a venue blah blah... that's kinda first level stuff. You want to do more than that, and interact with something that has to interact with lots of people... like, say, the Hugo Awards, how in the hell do people think it works?
I mean are people honestly shocked that global organisations running events with 7 figure budgets and that have given out an award for over 50 years which involve thousands of people JUST HAPPEN?
Really? People find that amazing? Or are they just trying to wind me up?
