Bringing in the Steam Shovels...
Mar. 21st, 2012 11:39 amI'll be honest, since Christmas I've let the office get a bit out of hand. This has been partly due to being on the road a lot and having FAR too much to do. But it's really got to the point where we can't share the office for the 1-2 days a week we actually have a company working together day.
So I started clearing the decks yesterday, starting with a re-org of the company IT rack. This has yielded about a dozen different dead cables and adapters from dead kit that was swapped out without unplugging the tech. It's also allowed me to get an old colour printer spun up and I've found a spare multi-use power adapter that works for the laptop when it's on my desk, which means that the laptop PSU can live in my on-the-road cable bag.
I also got to move the wifi router and in-house wireless bridge up to the top shelf of the rack and away from the floor behind a 100 year old cast iron radiator which, I suspect, wasn't doing me any favours with wifi connectivity.
I've also got a spare monitor powered up and almost got the old laptop rebuilt and the second old laptop ready as a backup device off some kind.
Now it's filing, paperwork and follow ups to all the meetings of the last 3 weeks.
