Paging Major Clanger... The Good Wife
Oct. 3rd, 2011 02:17 pmIt was an interesting The Good Wife last night. They defended a libel case in Chicago, successfully, only to have the case immediately re-opened in the British Courts. Eddie Izzard rather delightfully playing the barrister for the person who was claiming libel. The story covered the, frankly, bonkers nature of British Libel Law and Super Injunctions.
OTOH, it did feel completely made up at times. I'm not entirely sure that they'd have a proceeding covered by a British Judge over tele-conference from Chicago, with a US law firm defending with a British Solicitor and a British Barrister also in Chicago.
Still, it was a good jab at a very odd piece of law.
I'd be interested on some actually legal verification of what was said/done though...
