Hmmm.... while the outcome was not in doubt, I do have to had it to the Georgians for piling on the pressure and giving Martin Johnson a detailed list of the weakpoints in the squad he played. It looks like he's still mucking around with the formations prior to the knock out stages. I just hope he learns enough from the next couple of games to stop it.
Poor discipline. England always have had a refereeing problem, and historically have been known for playing close to the wind when it comes to application of the rules. But they need to know that the refs have it in for that style of play, especially Caplan! If they'd given 11 penalties away in one half to NZ or SA or any other top flight team they'd have been 15 points adrift (at least) by half time.
Poor Forwards. The starting pack were pants. Crap scrums, poor rucks (see above) - things only settled down when they got Thompson back in at #2 - which isn't a good sign because theres no way he can play a full game. Same goes for Shaw.
Daftness. Ashton seems to be a good player, but you don't do daft and unnecessary dives over the line in a worldcup because something could go wrong.
Anyway. Ireland looked pretty damn spectacular and have a fairly good potential route to their first final now - except they'd possibly have to play England in the Semi. I suspect I know who I'd be supporting in that game.
