iPhone or Touch... The Dilema
May. 27th, 2008 11:50 amSo, my iTouch is gone, seemingly nicked on my last trip :( The company travel insurance will cough up for it so that's ok, but the question is what to replace it with...
On the one hand the Touch is a nifty device, great form factor, cool twiddly bits etc... and I could go to the 32GB version now.
On the other hand... I could get an iPhone as an always on, always connected device to carry with me. I make no bones about my view of the iPhone as a phone, we now have 3 people in the company with them and the reliability, especially when they're roaming outside the US is on par with the 1st generation of Windows Mobile disasters. However, there have been plenty of times when I've had the Touch on me but not had access to WiFi. Or rather signing up for WiFi would cost an arm and part of a leg and require a deeply fiddling sign in process.
So... do I wait for a few weeks and get an iPhone or just go for the Touch 32GB now...
Hard choice. My next long flight is in 3 weeks and I need to have a solution by then.
