Network Storage
Mar. 2nd, 2008 04:19 pmOk, so I finally bit the bullet and bought a Network drive today. It's a swanky 1TB Western Digital MyBook. I hooked everything up.
Nothing.
Tried again. Still nothing.
Phoned a friend, or rather the engineer who works for me who happens to live in the building. He comes over.
He looks at the set up and it magically starts to work.
I hate that.
It's not an ideal set up, not least of which copying stuff to it from the main machine is slow. But at least I can finally stream DVDs and large files to the set up upstairs without any serious problems. I'm just trying to test it on my 1.8GB 22 minute South Park file which was the death of my old configuration, it's just taking half an hour to copy to the network drive.
