Ego boosting

Went for a drink with some co-workers the other night and got the usual ID check. (*)

The waitress checked the other guys, I gave her my driving license and thanked her for the compliment, she scowled, took it, and did a double take.  "Good job," she said.  It's a small thing but we take this stuff where we can.

(*) Seattle Mayor Greg Nicholls is waging a war against sin and depravity in Seattle - ignoring the fact that Seattle was largely founded on Sin and Depravity.  He's got the police and so forth working to close down "trouble spots" around the city by running sting operations of places which are not checking ID for everybody and serving people who've had too much.

Greg, mate, the problem isn't the bars around Belltown serving drinks - it's the fact you've let Belltown get gentrified and been happy to let the police create a no go drugs zone down on Western and Elliot which spills up onto the gentry with the nice Condo's on First and Second around Bell.  Sort out the sink zone and a lot of the problems will resolve themselves.

A Little More Than Blustery...

It's blowing a gale at the moment, according to the weather the gusts are peeking at 60mph in central Seattle.  There are white topped waves on Elliott Bay and I've just seen a tug rushing out across this to somewhere.  Not sure I'd want to try and get a freighter in through this.

Now that's what I call takeout

I have a confession to make.  I hate ordering takeaway food.  I'm not sure why, it's just a pain in the arse.  So when the craving for Pizza hit me the other night I was delighted to find another way.  In a routine clean up, we tossed all the takeaway menus (or seem to have done) and as we don't order takeaway all that often, it's not a problem.

So I looked up a couple of pizza options online to see if they had menus and found one around the corner who not only had their menu on their site, but also let you order from the web.  I placed the order, they called 2 minutes later to confirm it and 25 minutes later the Pizza arrived at the door.  Really rather good.

Yay for Zeke's Pizza embracing the modern world.  Oh, and yes, the pizza wasn't bad either, nor was the salad I ordered.

What are the chances of that eh?

I was having great problems with my American Express bill which appeared to be out (not in my favour you understand) by exactly the amount of a credit elsewhere.

A couple of phone calls and sitting down and manually checking the invoicing totals indicates that in fact the error was mine, and it was conincidental that the charges involved were EXACTLY the same as the credit.  Go figure.

They've a weird cost accounting system which applies credits to running totals so you don't actually get an accurate report of what you spent.
