Had

[personal profile] vicaragehere for a night, good to catch up and chat with a fellow traveller among the heathens.  Generally speaking we lounged about and did admin things over the weekend.  Sunday was the day we caught up on essential home admin such as paying bills and checking the state of the household finances.  We've been running close to empty having paid for several weekend trips and our holiday up front, so it was nice to be able to pay off all the credit cards in one swoop.  I've left one balance which I've transfered onto a 0% interest card - the thinking there is we need to keep building a credit rating and one of the key things for a credit rating is actually having credit.

Saturday we had visited Bumbershoot, one of Seattle's many music events.  The first headliners were Crowded House and M wanted to see them.  Sadly pretty much everything else we tried for the next few hours was over booked and having queued we didn't get in.  We left feeling slightly disgruntled.

Monday vicarage turned up and we took a trip to The Elysian to see newly minted Hugo winner [profile] fringefaan- good on yer Randy.

Finally we drank tea and watched a rare thunderstorm roll in across Elliott Bay.

This morning it was p'ssing down - and has only just cleared up.  However, the evil Linux touch of death was upon John and he appeared to break my main PC giving me the first BSOD I've ever had on this box in 3 years.  I've traced the problem to a new Logitech webcam I've installed - I'm trying a fix at the moment, but I've got to get Eastside to the office and do some real work.  The tech support stuff can wait.   It looks like Logitech have stuffed up a camera driver meaning that Skype and/or IM crash the entire machine.  Logitech seem to think this is not their problem. Hmm... well guys, as I said I've had 3 years of trouble free computing until I upgraded the webcam.

*sigh*

It is a nice webcam too.

It would seem that I have travel aforeme again.  After a blissful few months of not travelling much (which I've wasted on living a normal life and not living a life of a hermit in the gym trying to shift more of the stomach), I appear to be gearing up for 6 months of travel.

September - Dallas for 3 days

October - a few days in Malmo is on the cards.
October 31st - I've a flight to bring me back to England.  I'll probably take it and plan a return to get me back into the country for Eastercon.

Feb - Barcelona for a week - the hell on Earth that is 3GSM

March - probably UK for Eastercon and some business

Plus, I appear to have a need to go to San Diego quite a lot.
