Vegas Baby!
Aug. 27th, 2007 08:22 amThis is my second trip to Vegas this year, and there might be a third on the cards. Gack. Hate it.
Came to meet my brother who is holidaying here with his family while his wife attends a conference. Wouldn't be my first choice of destination for kids. They were staying "off strip" in a "family" resort complex. Ugh, again.
Generally speaking unless you're gambling, Vegas isn't an easy city. Walking around the Casinos is a fool's game. The signs are misleading, the directions meaningless and you find yourself wandering around a maze of twisting little gaming tables all alike. There's some amazing stuff to see, the new wing of The Venetian, a mere 7000 EXTRA suites, the holes in the ground they've dug awaiting new casinos to be built ($1.5bn or so gets you the ground, another billion the resort, expect to get your money back in 9-12 months...), some amazing shoes. However, as I sit here at the airport waiting to get the hell out of dodge I have a dreadful feeling of enui.
The place is just depressing.
I didn't play any Poker, I did play video poker while waiting for dinner, won $100 and cashed out.
