Packed weekend: Breakfast at the English Pantry in Redmond which did an okish facsimile of an English breakfast.  Sausages were good, bacon not so.  Spent more money than I can comfortably comprehend on chocolate afterwards which I am trying hard to ration for myself...  mmmm.... buttons, maltesers, milkybar...  Not to mention a couple of precious packets of Plain Chocolate Homewheat and a jar of Branston Pickle.

It really is weird the stuff you miss.  They'd also got a shelf of South Africa stuff so we've Provitas, rusks and lots of Mrs Ball's Chuckney.

After that we took a look at the Redmond farmers market - not bad, got some vegs, then the quarterly trip to CostCo and finally home.

The appartment complex was having a summer fun afternoon so we met some new neighbours - Sean from Houston who has started his own aerospace company, and who turned out to have spent a year living in Preston (Lancashire) where I did my degree.  Really odd talking to this guy from Texas about the Black Horse pub on Fishergate.

We then wandered down to watch the SeaFair parade, which was, like most town parades just not as much fun to watch as the organisers think it is.  At least we saw the Pirates.

Finally we got home to play a game of Poker as planned.  Frankly, by that stage I was far far too drunk to play sensibly and the girls (who didn't want to play) ended up being the last 3 and then C, who really didn't want to play, won the game.

We'll have to do it again some time.

Sunday bloomed late and we spent the day watching DVDs.

Lies and Alibies (The Alibie) - a Steve Coogan and Rebecca Romijn movie:  It really should have been good.  Good plot, good cast, stylishly done, but the sum of the parts was less than the sum of the whole thing.  Worth a look though.

Man About Town: Ben Affleck and Rebecca Romijn: Ok, again hardly a classic.

I am coming around to the opinion that Rebecca Romijn (pronouced Romaine) of Mystique (X-Men) and Alexis Meade (Ugly Betty) fame is quite stunningly attractive.

HOW OLD???

I just found out that Harry Dean Stanton was born in 1926 - I thought he was getting on, but I was about 20 years out on his actual age.

I'm now curious to see what other elderly actors are still around...

Hmm... Barry Morse (Victor in Space: 1999) still with us 1918; Harry Morgan (Colonel Potter, MASH) 1915; Patrick MacNee (Avengers) 1922...

Wow.
