So, having been told we'd be not flying on our plane, the airline rebooked us all on flights leaving Oakland and SFO for later in the night.  My smugness at having managed to get onto the earlier flight evapourating as I waited in line for a new boarding pass.

Getting to the front of the queue, my temper and blood pressure flarring, I muttered that I was sorry I'd applied for a stand by and that I wished I'd kept my old seat.  The girl looked at me, clickety clicked on the computer and said, in that case sir, you can have your old seat.  We don't clear people off their flight until they're actually in the air on an earlier one...

Yay, I said and got straight onto my original flight.  Although it was still almost mid-night before I got home.

Today I've mostly been working through a proposal and also the nightmare of trying to get credit with no credit rating.  We've been led a merry dance by Wells Fargo who first said yes, then maybe, then today no, and then maybe again.  So I've supplied my personal banker's details, a copy of my highly elevated P45 from last year, several credit card statements and other stuff including my US AmEx statement.

If this doesn't work, it's off to the Credit Union like several people suggested in the first place.

We had a most excellent lunch out in a local Eatery (CJs Eatery in fact) and we have resolved to return there on Sunday for breakfast before we have to go and look at cars again.  At least I've been paid now, so we're solvent and can stop taking money from the UK.
